The NWGs went to the Blowing Rocks Preserve in Jupiter, FL. Unfortunately, the rocks weren’t “blowing” on this day, as it was a beautiful, sunny day and the ocean was very calm but it’s still a very interesting place to visit. There were several Portuguese Man-of-Wars that washed up on the shore by the rocks. They can pack a mean sting to anyone that accidentally comes into contact with their tentacles, but they are very pretty creatures. This one was particularly translucent compared to the other ones seen on the beach, which were more opaque.
My settings were ISO 200, f/8, 100mm, 1/160 sec and pattern metering mode. Applied Topaz Adjust 5’s clarity filter and a little cropping. Shade supplied by Becky.
