Nesting herons at the wetlands. It was a rotten day out there so we had this nest to ourselves. Usually there are too many photographers with big, honking lenses and massive tripods that seem to take over the area. It was fun to photograph, but wonderful to watch him pick just the right twig, bring it to her and she would add it to the nest very carefully.
Settings were 1/2500s, f/3.5, ISO 250. I used PS and Topaz Adjust HDR to bring out some of the detail hidden in the shadows.
