Week 12 – Robin

He Brings To Her

He Brings To Her

Nesting herons at the wetlands. It was a rotten day out there so we had this nest to ourselves. Usually there are too many photographers with big, honking lenses and massive tripods that seem to take over the area. It was fun to photograph, but wonderful to watch him pick just the right twig, bring it to her and she would add it to the nest very carefully.

Settings were 1/2500s, f/3.5, ISO 250. I used PS and Topaz Adjust HDR to bring out some of the detail hidden in the shadows.

Wonderful image! I was always told to go out and shoot in the bad weather – the rain and snow, wind and fog – you get the best dynamics and light, and they’re usually shots that haven’t been seen before – like the wind on the female GBHE feathers you’ve captured above.
